UVA's Descendant Outreach Program: Louisa County Connections

February 13, 2021 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM (EST)

Description

In July 2019, Dr. Shelley Murphy was hired to conduct genealogical research on descendants of the enslaved laborers who helped to build the University of Virginia. She used her extensive genealogical experience to overcome the challenges and obstacles faced in researching the history of enslaved people. During her ongoing research, she has discovered that some Louisa County slaves were rented to the University.

Join us for a talk on her work and the Louisans she has uncovered during her research.

Registration is free but required. Register online at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZApdOqsrD8qH9ylNboxZrh4xwWIv3Ng_Zk8.
