REC Recognized as Top Employer for Interns

Fredericksburg, Va. — Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) was recently recognized as a top employer for interns by the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership, which is administered by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.

The annual award celebrates Virginia employers who provide high-quality internships to students. Some of the noteworthy efforts of employers include exposing interns to senior leaders, structured mentorship programs, housing allowances, paid time off, security clearances and training for industry certifications.

Since 2020, REC has hosted 26 interns and has made internships available in Human Resources, Cybersecurity, Economic Development, Clean Energy and Energy Solutions, Data Analytics, Risk Management, Communications and Public Relations, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance, Operations and Construction and others.

"We take great pride in providing an enriched environment for our interns through our InternConnect Program, and the 2025 Virginia Top Employer for Interns award validates the efforts of our entire team to foster growth, learning, and professional development for the next generation of talent," said Fafa L. Baker, Organizational Development Specialist.
