Three Louisa County Middle School Students Advance to Virginia National Civics Bee® State Finals
LOUISA, Va. – The Louisa County Chamber of Commerce and Louisa Forward Foundation are proud to congratulate Hayden, Raegen, and Ethan of Louisa County Middle School for advancing to the Virginia National Civics Bee® State Finals, which will be held Friday, July 24, at 2:00 p.m. at The Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The three students earned their place at the state competition after first submitting essays that proposed civic solutions to challenges in their communities. Their essays were selected among the top entries to advance to the Louisa regional competition, where they demonstrated their civic knowledge through multiple quiz rounds and a live question-and-answer session with judges. The top three finishers advanced to represent Louisa County at the state level.
At the Virginia State Finals, students from across the Commonwealth will compete for state honors and the opportunity to advance to the National Civics Bee® Championship in Washington, D.C., this fall. The Virginia state champion will earn the opportunity to represent the Commonwealth on the national stage.
"The National Civics Bee is about much more than a competition," said Tracy Hale Clark, Executive Director of the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce. "It encourages young people to understand how their communities work, develop thoughtful solutions to local challenges, and discover that they have the ability to make a difference."
The Louisa County Chamber of Commerce partners with the Louisa Forward Foundation, Louisa County Public Schools, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to host the National Civics Bee® regional competition each year as part of its commitment to developing future community leaders and strengthening civic engagement.
Community members are invited to support Louisa's finalists as they compete in Williamsburg on Friday, July 24.
